Title 1 Book Swap a Big Success!

On November 13th, the Title1 department held their first of two book swaps for the school year.  This is the third year that the event has been taken place, and it is gaining more steam with each one held.  Over 94 families attended the event, the most ever!  Any child that attended was able to take up to 5 free books from the thousands available.  All books available were collected from various sources: donations from district families, the BAM fundraiser or funding provided by Parents for Public Education.  Parents responded quite positively on the event and strongly encourage that it continue.  Another will be held just before school breaks for summer vacation after another donation drive is held in the winter.

PSSA Results

VVSD has recently received its results from the 2016 administration of the PSSA.  The 2016 PSSA is the second to be aligned to the new, more rigorous PA Core Standards.  Therefore, we are now able to make meaningful year-to-year comparisons.  We are proud to announce that in the vast majority of areas our students’ performance improved from the previous year.  In many cases, such as our Intermediate School’s Math performance, the improvements were significant. We would like to congratulate our teachers, students, and parents for their hard work that made this possible.  While we are excited about these improvements, we still have much work to do and have our sights set even higher!

AP Results

VVSD has recently received its 2016 Advanced Placement Exam results.  We are excited to announce that 2016 was a milestone year at VV that saw record numbers of students earning a score of 3 or better, a record percentage of test takers scoring a 3 or better, and was the first time that VV students exceeded the percentage of test takers scoring a 3 or better globally.  These accomplishments are a credit to our AP teachers and our AP students and their parents.  Congratulations!  (Note: A score of 3 generally means that the student is qualified to receive college credit for the course.)
